DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police took a DeKalb County murder suspect into custody hours after he barricaded himself in a home, creating a SWAT standoff.
NewsChopper 2 flew over the scene, where there was a heavy police presence and dozens of police cars on River Ridge Court for most of the day.
Police said they attempted to serve a warrant to 18-year-old Shuntrez Giles, who was wanted for the murder of a 17-year-old in April. The sheriff’s office evacuated six other people inside the home and people in the neighboring houses.
Police said that after five hours of negotiation, Giles was found barricaded inside the home’s attack with a gun.
He was taken into custody, where he was evaluated by EMS.
