Home completely destroyed in Lithonia fire

LITHONIA, Ga. — A Lithonia home was destroyed in a fire Sunday afternoon.

Fire officials initially said there was a person injured, but have since said no civilians or firefighters were hurt.

The fire broke out at a two-story home in the area of Browning Drive and Benson Bridge Drive and crews are actively working to put it out.

Sunday’s dry and windy weather conditions present a high fire danger. Several counties have issued advisories warning residents of the dangers of lighting a match in north and central Georgia.

A 5-acre fire broke out on Tray Mountain in White County overnight Sunday.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Eboni Deon said the windy conditions on Sunday will subside early Monday morning and that temperatures will slowly warm over the course of the week.
