Man shot, killed outside DeKalb motel

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are searching for the gunman who killed a man outside a metro Atlanta motel.

Dekalb County police said Sunday around 8 p.m., a 911 call came in of shots fired outside a Super 8 on Chamblee Tucker Road.

Investigators told Channel 2 Action News that a man and a woman were confronted by the gunman outside of their car. The gunman then opened fire, killing the 27-year-old victim.

“They then observed a male subject lying on the ground in the parking lot,” said Lt. Shane Stanfield.

Stanfield said an argument may have sparked the gunfire.Police do not have a description of the suspect but had at least one big clue to go on.

“We also believe that he knew the suspect who shot him,” Stanfield said.

The woman was not injured.

A friend of the victim said her heart goes out to his children.

“What a terrible thing. I just saw him yesterday,” said the woman, who did not want to be identified. “It’s sad. One minute you’re here. One minute you’re not.”

Police think the victim was a resident here at the motel.

Police are working to identify family, before releasing the victim’s name.
