DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Nearly 24 hours after strong storms moved through metro Atlanta, people are still cleaning up from the damage left behind.
Saturday’s fierce storms took down trees and powerlines, damaging homes and cars too.
Channel 2′s Justin Carter went out to Tiffany Drive in Decatur where a tree went crashing through a neighbor’s bedroom.
Horace Larry said storms sent a massive 90-foot tree tumbling down onto his home.
“Anything can happen at any given time. So we’ve always monitored those trees, and when the storms come, we go on the other end of the house,” Larry said.

His neighbors across the street were also lucky after another massive tree uprooted splitting a work van in half.
Thankfully no one was inside at the time.
“It’s just been chaos,” said Carolyn Rosemond.
Sunday, utility crews were in the neighborhood working to restore power for those that have been without for nearly 24 hours
Rosemond was one of them. She called a neighbor to help salvage some food before it spoils.
“All the neighbors have come to help everybody,” Rosemond said.
Power has been restored to much of the area, but there were still parts without power as of Sunday afternoon.
