DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — With just a few weeks left until Election Day, many voters want to know what’s being done to protect their votes and keep them safe.

Channel 2′s Carol Sbarge was at the DeKalb County election office, where she learned what kind of precautions officials are taking.

This year, election workers are doing extra things for safety protocols during in-person voting. When voters go inside, they will provide the pool officer with their Georgia-issued voter identification.

Poll workers will be wearing N-95 masks and face shields.

DeKalb County Elections Director Erica Hamilton walked Sbarge through some more of the safety protocols.

“We will offer these disposable styluses they can use so that they don’t have to touch any of the equipment,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton said all polling places will have hand sanitizer and gloves if people want to use them. Poll workers plan to disinfect equipment every hour at minimum. They can’t require voters to wear masks, but strongly encourage it.
