DEKALB COUNTY, Ga — Police agencies across metro Atlanta area are on high alert Friday night. From Atlanta to Cobb County to Dekalb County, “We want to make sure that the community feels safe,” said Dekalb County Police Chief Mirtha Ramos.
Dekalb County Police Chief Mirtha Ramos said police agencies from all over the area are increasing their police presence after a Georgia State Patrol Office was shot by a man protesting the future Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.
“When one of us gets injured, or hurt or killed, we all feel it,” said Chief Mirtha Ramos.

The center and the land it will be built on has been a focus topic for protestors claiming to protect the land. There have been several threats posted on social media encouraging people to vandalize anything tied to the project.

Chief Ramos said it’s an all hands on deck approach, “We want to make sure that all of our officers, are able to go home. We don’t want anyone to get injured and that’s really our priority right now.”
