School administrators sent a note to parents Tuesday afternoon, saying that the fight involved more than a dozen students.

Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes was at the school Tuesday morning, where she was working to learn what led up to the fight. Fernandes talked to one parent, Lakisha Spells, who said she was visiting the school to have a meeting with administrators about a fight her ninth-grader was involved in, when a new fight broke out.

“You could see a huge crowd of kids,” Spells said. “Because I was a parent, they were trying to get me away from it and get me out of harm’s way, basically.”

Spells said that she’s worried her son will get attacked again.

“My son was jumped, beat up, punched in the face, kicked,” Spells said. “He had a broken nose. It’s not the life I want my son to live.”

Another parent told Fernandes that the school’s principal was injured during the brawl. We’re working to determine the extent of her injuries.
