Police identify victims in apparent murder-suicide inside DeKalb County apartment complex

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police have identified five people who were found dead, in what police are calling a domestic-related murder-suicide.

The shooting happened on Saturday just before 7:30 p.m. along the 2100 block of Vineyard Walk inside an apartment.

When officers arrived at the home, they found 32-year-old Jonathan Darden. Police said he was dating 43-year-old Mollian Johnson. Her grandchildren were Jedorah Powell, 5, and one-year-old Jontavious Powell. Their mother was 26-year-old Kaylyn Samuels.

According to DeKalb County police, all five lived together at the home.

Police said Darden was the shooter in the murder-suicide.

Channel 2′s Veronica Griffin spoke to neighbors who noticed police tape and emergency lights at the Vineyards at Flat Shoals Apartments.

“I was out with my friends, and I just saw it like it was taped out, so I got kind of nervous,” neighbor Analyssa Rivera told Griffin.

Like Rivera, several other neighbors here also said they did not hear any noises in the area at the time.

The motive remains unknown at this time.
