Channel 2 Action News viewers reported seeing a large police presence in the area.
Channel 2′s Tom Regan was at the scene, where there’s police tape blocking off a path deep into the woods.
Regan talked to a pastor at the church, who was shocked and said he doesn’t know who found the remains. He said he doesn’t think the trail is on church property.
It’s unclear how the remains were found, or how long investigators believe they were at the location.
Identifying human remains is usually done through fingerprint and dental analysis, but in many cases, that may not be possible. The identification process could take a few days, or a week or longer.
