DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police are trying to figure out how a woman’s body ended up on the side of a road Monday morning.
Police received a 911 call around 8 a.m. about a body on Marbut Road near Stonebridge Creek Drive in Lithonia. That is just a block away from Lithonia High School.
Investigators told Channel 2′s Kristen Holloway they are still investigating the cause of death. The victim’s name, age and cause of death have not been released.
Police spent hours looking at possible evidence in the grass and wooded area off Marbut Road.

Holloway spoke to neighbors who say they were shocked and concerned to her body was found near their neighborhood.
“Like this part of Lithonia,. Nothing really happens. It’s quite and boring,” Curtis Terrell said. “I really didn’t believe it.”
Investigator on scene told Holloway they aren’t sure what caused the woman’s death. They haven’t ruled out the possibility of a car accident or homicide; however, they don’t want to speculate until they receive the autopsy report from the medical examiner.
