NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — The driver of a car found crashed on the side of the highway in Newton County has been pronounced dead.

Police say the car they found matches the description of that of a woman who disappeared while leaving a metro Atlanta pub last week.

Yolanda Brown, 53, disappeared after leaving the Irish Bred Pub on Virginia Avenue in Hapeville early last Saturday morning.

They have not confirmed if the person found dead in the car was Brown or if the car belonged to her.

Officers found the car on I-20 near Alcovy Road in Newton County.

NewsChopper 2 first brought you live pictures from over the scene on Channel 2 Action News at 3 p.m. on Monday.

“There is a suspect, I believe, someone who followed her home,” said Joshua Doughty, Brown’s son.

Surveillance video given to Channel 2′s Ashli Lincoln shows the last image Doughty says he has of his mother.

The video shows Brown sitting and talking to a man inside her car for nearly two hours before the man gets out of her car, gets into his and then follows her out of the parking lot.

Officers have not identified the man, but said Brown’s children were able to contact him and that he told them he was following her back to her Covington home but then lost sight of her car on the road.

“He said he lost her on the expressway. I don’t really believe none of that,” Doughty said.

Brown’s sister, Mickie Nutall, told Lincoln that she’s worried her sister’s friendly nature may have gotten her in trouble.

“She always wants to be someone’s friend, and I am 100% convinced that her friend-making is what led to her being missing right now,” Nutall said.
