DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Atlanta rapper Silento, whose legal name is Richard “Ricky” Lamar Hawk, was arrested early Friday morning after driving 143 mph on I-85 in DeKalb County, according to a police report.
The rapper, 22, is known for his debut hit single, “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae).” Hawk is from Stone Mountain.
Police said Hawk was pulled over around 3 a.m. on I-85 after he was clocked by laser going at a high rate of speed. The officer who filed the report said Hawk’s white BMW SUV was failing to maintain the lane and swerving around slower vehicles.
The officer pulled the rapper over at Clairmont Road, where he asked Hawk to get out of the car and pressed him on why he was driving so fast.
“The driver stated that he was coming from Gwinnett and that people were following him and that he left from the club,” the officer wrote in the report.

According to the report, the officer and the rapper argued about how fast he was going and Hawk insisted he’d done nothing wrong and asked to see the officer’s Laser.
Hawk told the officer to look up his driver’s license.
Hawk finally told the officer he was speeding because he gets followed wherever he goes, the officer wrote in the report.
“He stated, ‘If there is like 10 cars following me, I can do 143 because I am not a regular person and you could go and look on your computer and it would tell you that’,” the officer wrote.
Hawk told the officer he was at the club to promote his new song.
He was arrested for reckless driving, speeding, failure to maintain lane and improper stopping.
Hawk was taken to the DeKalb County Jail where he was released on bond on Friday around 12 p.m.
