Animal rights group PETA is adding to the reward to find whoever set a dog on fire over the weekend in DeKalb County.
Police said a tan-and-cream Labradoodle was found on Lindsey Drive in Decatur “engulfed in flames” Sunday morning.
DeKalb County police say witnesses rushed to help the dog when they spotted him running down the road.

PETA announced Friday it was adding an additional $5,000 to the $2,000 reward being offered by Crime Stoppers, bringing the total reward to $7,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
“This dog endured immense pain and terror when someone set him on fire, burning him severely,” PETA senior vice president Colleen O’Brien said. “PETA urges anyone with answers to come forward so that whoever tortured him can be held accountable—and stopped before someone else is hurt.”
Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
A local nonprofit called Dog Days Rescue is caring for the dog. The organization is accepting donations to help pay for his treatment. To keep up with the latest updates on this dog, click here.
