DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Traffic came to a screeching halt along Interstate 285 Friday after a truck crashed, causing a major traffic jam.

The crash happened in the east bound lanes of I-285 near the North Peachtree Road exit.

An 18-wheeler lost part of its load and hit a police SUV and a car.

Some people got stuck on the intestate for hours.

Ann Salo told Channel 2’s Tyisha Fernandes that she was on the way to the gym when she hit the traffic jam.

“How long you been waiting in traffic? Fernandes asked Salo.

“An hour and 55 minutes,” she said.

Police diverted drivers off the highway at the Chamblee Dunwoody exit.

“The interesting thing is, that for an hour I had a truck full of hogs next to me,” Salo told Fernandes. “So I put the window down and kind of listened to the calls of the hogs.”

The man driving the hogs was on his way to Gainesville and said sitting still in the heat for 2 hours made them miserable.

Investigators told Fernandes that everyone involved in the crash is expected to be OK. One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
