DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are now releasing the surveillance video of a shootout inside a DeKalb County business during an armed robbery.

The shootout between the store clerk and the armed suspect happened Tuesday evening at the Happy’s Package Store on Rockbridge Road in DeKalb County.

The suspect has been identified as Emmanuel Henry, 22.

The video shows Henry walk into the store and jump the counter to confront the clerk holding a gun.

Police said Henry fired five times at the clerk, who returned fire, hitting the armed robber three times.

"He jumped across and it took me two seconds to react," the clerk said.

The entire incident lasted only 13 seconds. The suspect jumped back over the counter, collapsing outside. He later died at the hospital.

The clerk, who did not want to be identified, told Channel 2’s Liz Artz he got lucky.

“This guy preplanned this. I found out he's been doing this on a regular basis. He has harmed people before and they all kept saying he has done this before and is wanted on outstanding warrant. I guess I was just lucky yesterday,” the clerk told Artz.

Detectives said they do not intend to charge the clerk, who they say was well within his rights to protect himself.
