It happened Thursday evening in Maria Perez's Bedford Park home.

She told Channel 2’s Nicole Carr that the attack happened so quickly that she never got a good look at her attackers. But neighbors were able to step in and provide important details to police.

Perez, 46, told Carr that she was able open her eye for the first time Monday.

"Right now at this moment, I give thanks to God. I feel better today. Today I can almost see the whole day," Perez said.

She told Carr about the violent attack she endured when she walked through her apartment door about 5:30 p.m. Thursday after work and was ambushed by an intruder.

Although neighbors would go on to tell police the attack involved three suspects, Perez said she was hit and cut with a knife. The attack was so swift, Perez said she never got a good look at the three intruders.

"As soon as I opened the door, he hit me with a knife." Perez told Carr. "Directly in the eye. I couldn't see. I covered myself."

Perez said she blindly ran into her bathroom for safety.

While police describe the incident as an assault and burglary, Perez said her attackers never even got away with anything from the apartment, except her sense of security.

“I want to get out of here. I don't feel good here. I'm afraid," Perez said.

The neighbors who observed the intruders from their back doors say there were two Hispanic males, one with a highlighted Mohawk and the other with an injured right arm. Neighbors said they also spotted a female wearing all black with a purple streak in her bangs.

Chamblee police are now searching for the three.
