DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News is learning new details in the DeKalb County murder-suicide.

The daughter of one of the women killed told Channel 2′s Audrey Washington that her mother was about to break up with her estranged boyfriend, who is the suspected shooter.

“Taking it second by second, day by day,” said the victim’s daughter Chanel Carter.

Carter said when she had not heard from her mother, Mollian Johnson, nor her soon-to-be-sister-in-law, Kaylyn Samuels, she went to her mother’s Vineyard Walk apartment in DeKalb County on Saturday.

She said that’s when she and a police officer made the gruesome discovery.

“I noticed the body on the floor and one, my niece or my nephew, was on the bed and that’s when I ran to the front and I kind of shouldered the front door open and I saw the body on the couch,” Carter explained.

On Monday, police identified the victims as Johnson, Samuels and Samuels’ two children: 5-year-old Jedorah Powell and 1-year-old Jontavious Powell.

Police identified the suspect who killed himself as Jonathan Darden.

Neighbors were left in disbelief.

“It gives me anxiety and just to think that two kids could lose their lives it’s kind of traumatizing,” said Analyssa Rivera.

Police believe Darden shot and killed the family before he turned the gun on himself.

Carter told Channel 2′s Audrey Washington her mother warned a friend about Darden.

“What’s really messing with me is how much you don’t know a person because it turns out my mom had texted one of her friends that if anything was to happen to her it was him who did it,” Carter explained.

Carter had a message for anyone trapped in a dangerous relationship.

“Cut out as soon as you can,” said Carter.

Police do not have a motive.
