DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The chief investigator of DeKalb County’s District Attorney's Office now admits he was drunk the night police stopped him for going more than 100 miles per hour.
Craig Scott pleaded guilty to two counts of driving under the influence, which is a misdemeanor. Jailers booked him in into jail on Tuesday and he got out Thursday.
Channel 2’s Erica Byfield went by Scott's home on Friday, but no one was there.
In the video you can see Scott stumble twice during his road side heel to toe test.
"Do we really have to do this?" Scott asked in the video.
"Yes sir, absolutely," the officer replied.
"That's alright I'm not gonna take it," Scott said.
"You're not gonna do it?" the officer asked.
"God, please I'm the chief investigator for the DA's office. Please," Scott said.
The night of his arrest, he repeatedly told investigators what he did for a living. A short time later, Scott went to jail for alleged drunk and driving. An officer said Scott was going 104 miles per hour on Interstate 20.
Judge Nancy Bills sentenced Scott to 12 months, but said he only had to serve four days behind bars. He has to do the rest of his time on probation.
Byfield found he's still on paid leave with the county as of Friday. Through other court filings we learned the judge gave him credit for time served. He also has to pay a fine and he must complete 40 hours of community service.
Scott's driver’s license is also suspended. It is unclear how long he will not be able to drive.
