DECATUR, Ga. — DeKalb County police made an emergency landing in their helicopter Tuesday morning after noticing strange fumes.
The helicopter landed during takeoff at Dunaire Park around 9:30 a.m. when the fumes were noticed in the cockpit, police sources told Channel 2's Ryan Young. Police said they believe the fumes came from the air conditioning unit
The helicopter was purchased by the police department in February to replace the one that crashed in 2010.
The helicopter took off safely about an hour after the emergency landing.
