DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police is investigating a deadly shooting at a gas station and convenience store near a busy intersection.
The shooting happened Monday around 2 p.m. off South Hairston Road and Redan Road. Officers told Channel 2 Action News that a man in his 30s was killed.
According to investigators, the victim was standing by his car when shots were fired from another car driving down the road. He died at the scene.
“I just heard like 5 gunshots. Like pow, pow, pow. I’m like really what’s going on over here,” Brian Anderson told Channel 2′s Tom Jones.

Anderson was working nearby and was shocked someone would get shot during this time of day.
“It’s crazy because I’ve heard of night shootings and stuff like that. I’ve heard of day shootings before but I’ve never heard of one so close to me before,” he said.
A woman who didn’t want to be identified said her brother is friends with the man who was killed and that he was in the car when the bullets started flying.
“He happened to be in the car like a few seconds before they started shooting so by the grace of God he’s OK,” she said. “It’s just so tragic. It’s so tragic. I knew this guy. He was a really nice guy.”
The victim’s name has not been released.
