Officers shoot, kill armed man in DeKalb County, police say

Investigators say an armed man shot by a DeKalb County police officer has died.

DeKalb County police said the shooting happened on Balsam Drive, which is north of North Druid Hills Road just inside Interstate 285.

Police say when officers arrived at the home, a 75-year-old man identified as John Daniel Dixon came out of the house with a gun. Dixon died in the shooting. No police officers were hurt.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been requested to investigate the shooting. This is the 17th officer-involved shooting they’ve been called to this year.
