The 7U Central DeKalb Jaguars are the No. 1 ranked 7U team in the state and No. 5 in the nation. They’ve won numerous tournaments, but never a national championship.
The players crossed off that last item on their list this weekend.
The Stone Mountain based youth football team defeated the Texas Crusaders 14-12 to win the Youth National Championship Saturday afternoon in Miami.
Getting to the national championship wasn’t cheap for the players. In November, the team started a GoFundMe to raise $10,000 for travel expenses.
Thanks to loyal viewers like you, they surpassed that goal in hours, raising nearly $12,000 to give the kids a chance at a national title.
The Jaguars defeated teams from North Carolina, Alabama and Texas in the tournament to win the championship.
