ATLANTA — Delta Air Lines released new details in its plan to move forward as it tries to attract passengers back, including more flights in June.

The Atlanta-based airline said the June schedule is “significantly reduced” compared to last year, but several major routes will return, both domestic and international.

For some people, the thought of sitting in an enclosed cabin in this age of coronavirus is just something they do not want to do.

Delta and other airlines realize this and have put measures in place to keep passengers safe. The airline sent out an email to all its customers about them this week.

“While this crisis has made us distance ourselves, the isolation has brought a sense of togetherness as we check in on one another. I will continue to communicate with you and ask that you share any feedback you have," Delta CEO Ed Bastian said. “You can rest assured that we are taking every step to keep you safe throughout your journey when you are ready to fly with us again.”

All fights will only be at 60% cabin capacity. The aircraft cabin along with gates and jet ways will be sprayed. The tray tops and seat back screens will be wiped down. The check-in gates will have plexiglass screens.

Everyone from passengers to the crews will be required to wear masks. The company is encouraging travelers to bring their own masks but will provide them for free to customers who need them.

Delta has also blocked off middle seats.

“I feel like they’re doing a really good job communicating throughout the last eight weeks or so,” Maura Neill told Channel 2’s Richard Elliot.

Neill is a realtor and national instructor who travels a lot. She is also a Delta platinum medallion member. She hasn’t flown since February but likes the new safety plans.

“Nobody wants to fly in the middle seat anyway, so it makes sense for them to cancel any middle seat bookings for now,” she said.

Delta does plan to resume some of its major routes next month, which were mostly canceled throughout May.

From Atlanta, you’ll be able to fly to Bermuda, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Cancun and Mexico City and overseas to Paris, Frankfurt and Lagos.

Here is where Delta will fly internationally in June. The schedule is subject to change.
