ATLANTA — A local dentist who specializes in gold teeth and "grills" is under investigation by the feds and the Georgia attorney general.

They want to know if he's stealing Medicaid money.

Channel 2's Rachel Stockman confronted the dentist about the investigation and also discovered some past cleanliness issues at his office.

All over Dr. Dennis Jaffe's website are pictures of grills he's put in for clients, from 22 karat to white gold.

The downtown Atlanta dentist calls himself "the father of Afrodontics."

But when the reporter tried to ask him about the Georgia attorney general's investigation, he would only say, "Leave me alone and get out of here."

So far the dentist is facing one federal misdemeanor charge of possibly stealing or embezzling Medicaid money but the investigation is ongoing.

Client Karseen King says Jaffe did work on his teeth. He told Stockman he is shocked.

"He's known around town for being a good man and providing the services that you need," King said.

Stockman did some digging and discovered that Jaffe has been in trouble before.

His license was recently taken off probation by the Georgia Board of Dentistry after inspectors found problems like his "office contained old equipment with defective parts covered by trash bags," and "countertop surfaces appeared to be un-sanitized."

As for the money issues, King said he just doesn't buy that Jaffe would do anything wrong.

"A lot of times I use debit, a lot of times I use cash. I follow whatever rules they want us to follow," King said.

Jaffe is just facing one misdemeanor charge; the investigation is ongoing.

Stockman tried reaching Jaffe's attorney for comment but she hasn't heard back.
