BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — Family members say a 21-year-old woman who vanished after going to a Cook Out in Macon with friends early Friday morning has died.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said Sidney Compagines had not been seen since 1 a.m. Friday at the Cook Out on Tom Hill Sr. Blvd.
Her mother said Compagines texted to tell her she was on the way home but never arrived.
Family members said on a Facebook page set up to follow the search that Compagines was killed in a car accident.
“Our hearts are broken but we now have closure. Sidney lost her life in a horrific car accident. Thank you for all of your prayers,” family members wrote. “Our family asked for continued prayers and privacy as we deal with the loss of our precious Sidney. She is now in heaven with her Grandmama.”
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said family members found Compagines’ car down an embankment in a wooded area in the 300 block of Lower Thomaston Rd. Deputies said they believe Compagines died in a single-car accident.
