CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — Little Hunter Long graduated from kindergarten in Cherokee County today. Reuniting with the deputy who saved his life made the milestone more special.

Hunter was just 2-years-old when he nearly drowned. Det. Duncan, who at the time was a deputy with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the call.
Det. Duncan pulled Hunter from the pool and performed CPR. The child began to breathe again and made a full recovery.

Hunter graduated kindergarten Wednesday from Little River Elementary School. His family brought him by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office South Annex to celebrate with Det. Duncan.
Hunter walked up to Det. Duncan and gave him a big hug. Hunter also showed off his diploma.
The Sheriff’s Office posted about the heartwarming reunion on Facebook.
The Sheriff’s Office said it is a reminder of why they do what they do.
