Dog attacked by coyote in Roswell

ROSWELL, Ga. — A North Fulton County man called Channel 2 Action News after a coyote attacked his 40-pound dog.

Joe Feinberg lives on Shadowbrook Drive in Roswell. He told Channel 2's Erica Byfield a coyote attacked his dog, Abby, a few minutes after he let her out on Saturday night.

"I knew there were coyotes in the area and rushed to go outside, and by the time I got outside my dog was running around to the front of the house," he said.

Abby now wears a plastic cone around her neck to keep her from biting her stitches. The coyote bit Abby underneath her rib cage, right hip and rear end.

"Even the veterinarian and all of our neighbors are saying she is a survivor," Feinberg.

Feinberg said he grateful Abby survived, but as a father of a 3-year-old, he's fearful it's only a matter of time before a coyote bites a child. He told Byfield he is now in favor of trapping.

"It's a public problem. It's a safety problem more than it' a nuisance. I used to think of it as a nuisance, but I think it's a safety concern now for humans and animals," Feinburg said.
