Donkey’s social distancing efforts thwarted by Dawson County deputy

DAWSON COUNTY, Ga. — A donkey wearing a face mask in Dawson County was just doing his part in battling COVID-19 by staying away from the other donkeys when a Dawson County deputy caught him.

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office said they received reports of a donkey in a mask walking down the road near a water tower.

Out of concern for both the donkey and drivers, Corporal Smith made his way to the area to check on the donkey.

He was able to find the animal sporting a face mask to keep from catching COVID-19 and get him back to his owner safely.

“It’s not every day you get a call for a donkey walking in the road with a mask on, but we keep Corporal Smith around just in case,” the department quipped in a Facebook post.
