DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — Vaccination sites in Douglas and Cobb counties have more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine than people to give them to.
“We have about 4,000 vaccines that we have to give,” said pharmacist Tara Thompson.
When the COVID-19 vaccines first started being made available it was a mad dash for many to get a dose. Now, local health officials say that is slowing down.

Officials are now offering walk-up appointments at as many sites as possible in Cobb and Douglas counties.
Thompson told Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes that she believes people are hesitant to get the vaccine.
“It’s either because some of the vaccines that have been halted, like the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, they are kind of put on hold for now. But also there’s a little bit of, there’s more supply so patients aren’t having as hard of a time getting an appointment,” Thompson said.

Public Health Director Dr. Janet Memark said that what is happening with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should not be causing hesitancy.
“People may be a little worried about this, but the six cases of this rare blood clot that they had found, the fact that they were able to find that in over 7 million doses is really truly remarkable,” Memark told Fernandes.

Even if you are concerned about getting the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, Memark notes that you can still get the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines without an appointment beginning this weekend.
To get a dose of the vaccine, all you need to do is pull up to the Arbor Place Mall in Douglas County, Jim Miller Park in Marietta or North Metro Church in Marietta.
