DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — Douglas County officials announced Wednesday that the county fire chief had been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
Douglas County Fire/EMS Chief Roderick Joivette was placed on leave, county leaders said, while they investigate the department’s hiring process.

“Douglas County Fire/EMS Chief Roderick Jolivette has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the completion of an investigation of the Department’s hiring process,” county leaders wrote in a statement. “Deputy Fire Chief, Dr. Miles Allen, will be in command until further notice.”

The government did not provide further information regarding the investigation and what led them to conduct it.
Joviette is a 34-year fire and emergency services veteran. He is also the department’s first Black fire chief.
