Man who shot 3 people outside Applebee's on the run

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities are investigating a fight and shooting outside an Applebee’s restaurant in Lithia Springs.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, they know who shot three people, including a woman, outside the restaurant on Thornton Road but he’s not in custody.

Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fight.

Deputies were called to the scene around 1 a.m. Thursday. The bar restaurant closes at midnight on Wednesdays.

Antoinette Gordon, a customer, told Channel 2 Action News she was startled see sheriff's investigators with metal detectors combing through the bushes in front of one of her favorite restaurants.

"That's surprising right there. Scary, very scary," she said.

They were looking for shells and bullet fragments from the late night shooting. One bullet pierced the awning of the restaurant.

Patrons like Larry Miller tell us they are shocked.

"They shouldn't be out shooting people like that. Man, this thing is crazy. It's really crazy, man," he said.

What type of dispute led up to the shooting is unknown. An arrest has not been made.

Applebee's sent Channel 2 Action News a statement saying it is cooperating with authorities to investigate what the restaurant is calling an isolated incident.
