Driver kept going after hitting 16-year-olds riding skateboards along northwest GA road

WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. — Georgia State Patrol is investigating after two teens were injured during a hit-and-run crash.

It happened on Dec. 30, just before 7:30 p.m. Troopers responded to a hit-and-run crash involving a car and two teenagers on Cohutta Varnell Road in Whitfield County.

GSP said a 2014-2015 black Honda Accord was traveling south on Cohutta Varnell Road. According to GSP, two 16-year-old boys were riding skateboards southbound on Cohutta Varnell Road, near the shoulder of the roadway.

Officials said the Honda Accord hit both teens and after impact, the driver of the Honda drove away from the scene.

One of the teens was released from the scene with minor injuries. The other 16-year-old was taken to Erlanger Chattanooga via Life Force.

The driver’s identity and the location of the Honda Accord are unknown. Anyone with information is urged to call Post 5 at 706-272-2200.
