ATLANTA — Street racers performing stunts and a large crowd of spectators took over a busy intersection Sunday night. Things turned dangerous when one car nearly caught on fire.
The racing takeover happened late Sunday night at Roswell Road and Powers Ferry Road.

A Channel 2 Action News photographer got video of the stunts, which attracted a large crowd.
In the video, you can see someone toss a firecracker that hit a car and caused a small explosion that blew out the back window.
“Gives me like a adrenaline rush. I don’t how to explain it for real. It’s just fun,” one spectator said.

Neighbors told Channel 2 that they are fed up with the ongoing stunts.
“I think it’s embarrassing,” Eli Flint said. “I began calling the police for 20 minutes and you didn’t see a single patrol.....just smell of the tires.”
Atlanta police told Channel 2 that the drivers and spectators took off when their officers arrived.
