Atlanta shines at 91st Academy Awards, 'Green Book' takes home Best Picture

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The 2019 Oscars were one for the books, with big name stars like Lady Gaga, Rami Malek and more all being announced as winners.

The night was capped of with "Green Book" taking home the award for Best Picture.

Regina King took home actress in a supporting role for "If Beale Street Could Talk," and Mahershala Ali won his second Oscar for best supporting actor in "Green Book."

A full look at how metro Atlanta shined at this year's awards on Channel 2 Action News at 4 p.m.

Iconic director Spike Lee won his first Oscar for adapted screenplay for his work in "BlacKkKlansman." Lady Gaga also took home her first award for her original song "Shallow," which she also performed alongside "A Star Is Born" co-star Bradley Cooper. Olivia Colman also won best actress for "The Favourite," beating out Glenn Close, who had seemed like a lock heading into the show.

Overall, "Bohemian Rhapsody" led the way with four wins, including Rami Malek for actor in a leading role, while "Black Panther," and "Roma" won three awards each.

Atlanta was also a big winner at Sunday's awards. Atlanta-shot "Black Panther" took home several awards including Best Original Score, Costume Design and Production Design.

Among the presenters was Rep. John Lewis and media mogul/actor Tyler Perry.
