Yacmin Coria was asleep when she says a police officer knocked on her door. She walked outside and saw her neighbor’s home in flames.
Coria said her friend was a wonderful, loving mother.
“She was a good mom. She always takes care of her daughters, do anything for her daughters,” she said. “I have five boys and it hurts because you never know when it’s going to be your last day to be together as a family.”
Friends, neighbors and church leaders surrounded the grieving family as fire investigators worked to figure out how this happened.
Pastor Joaquin Contreras said the children’s father often attends his church. He made sure to be here so he could pray with him in person through this devastating loss.
“He’s a good guy and we are here, you know all our church, to help him, pray for him,” Contreras said. “Now is the time to be together.”
