DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Dozens of people remembered a football standout murdered Memorial Day.

He is the fourth teenager killed in three days.

Trevon Richardson had just graduated from Cedar Grove High School and had plans to attend Valdosta State University.

Hundreds gathered in an Ellenwood neighborhood to light candles and send balloons toward heaven in Richardson’s honor.

"It’s not a good feeling because he just got accepted to Valdosta," said friend Kortney Cox.

Richardson’s Cedar Grove High School coach, Jimmy Smith, viewed Trevon as a son.

"He played football basketball, ran track (on the) state championship team. A great kid all around," Smith said.

Richardson was one of four children.

His parents can’t even begin to describe their grief and heartache.

“He laid on me the other night. He often lays on me. Right now, it’s tough for our family I wasn’t expected to bury our kid, I was expecting him to bury me," said his mother, Nicole Richardson.

Dekalb County police said they found Richardson’s body along Pepper Tree Circle in Decatur on Monday night.

"I preached to him over and over. 'Mind who you draw your attention to and who you’re with,' during that time out of school," Nicole Richardson said.

Now, his father, Freddie Richardson, is begging people to come forward with information

"Because those people you’re protecting or not speaking out against, they could be the ones that harm your family or take your life," he said.

The family said if the investigation goes cold, they plan to put a reward to help find Trevon's killer.
