GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating a double fatal crash on Interstate 985 northbound in Gwinnett County.
The two-car wreck happened around 2 p.m. Saturday.
Police said a vehicle traveling southbound on I-985, for an unknown reason, crossed the median and into traffic on 985 northbound, striking another vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle that crossed the median died in the wreck.
Police said there were two people in the car.
The car that was struck, which was traveling northbound, had one passenger inside. That passenger was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The names of the victims who died have not been released, as the next of kin have not been notified. The wreck is still being investigated, according to police.
All lanes of I-985 were blocked between exits 4 and 8, and traffic was backed up onto Interstate 85 northbound. The lanes were reopened just after 4:30 p.m Saturday.
