Father charged in 2-year-old's choking death pleads not guilty

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A father accused of choking his 2-year-old son to death pleaded not guilty in a Douglas County courtroom Thursday afternoon.

Courtney Chauvez Craig is charged with felony murder and child cruelty for the death of 2-year-old King Davis.

"He unlawfully and with malice caused the death of King Davis, by blocking his airway causing asphyxia," a judge said.

Craig shook his head in court as the graphic details surrounding the child’s alleged killing were presented.

Channel 2's Audrey Washington was the only reporter to speak with boy's family after the hearing, who was visibly upset inside the courtroom. %

Family members said the boy lived in New Orleans with his mother but was in Georgia visiting his father when he died at Craig’s Douglasville apartment.

The boy's aunt said she wanted justice for the toddler.
