CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A father and son are now in jail together after deputies said they kidnapped and beat a woman over the weekend.
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called out to a home on Saturday in reference to a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, they found a woman with her face and ear “severely swollen” and bruised, along with marks on her neck that deputies said were consistent with strangulation.
According to deputies, the victim said Dennis Roddy claimed the victim, who is the girlfriend of his son, James Roddy, was making advances on him. James Roddy then became angry and punched the woman in the head and threw her to the ground, deputies said.
Sheriff’s officials said the father and son then tied up the woman’s hands and feet and began kicking and beating her, and at one point, picked her up by her neck and strangled her to the point where she could not breathe.
The alleged beating took disturbing turn when the victim said the father and son discussed killing her and dumping her body in a lake nearby.

When deputies asked the victim why Dennis and James Roddy would act in “such a radical manner,” the victim said that they were methamphetamine users and said that James Roddy “has tried to kill people in the past.”
Sheriff Victor Hill dispatched his PANTHER unit, along with the Fugitive Squad, to track down the father and son suspects.
Hill said that both have been taken into custody on Monday morning: Dennis Roddy was taken into custody on Spring Drive in Riverdale during a traffic stop. James Roddy was taken into custody on Evans Drive in Riverdale, where deputies said he was hiding out in a pool house. He walked out with his arms raised and was taken into custody without incident, Hill said.
Both father and son are facing kidnapping and assault charges.
