Some severe thunderstorms were popping up in west Georgia Sunday afternoon and are expected to make their way into metro Atlanta this evening.
Meteorologist Katie Walls said the biggest threats ahead are heavy rain and lightning.
Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency said that trees and power lines are down there and about 1,000 people are without power.

It will start a wet week ahead in north Georgia.
