FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. — UPDATE: The U.S Marshals announced they arrested Travione Keonte Renolds, 21, from Atlanta in the deadly home invasion. Authorities said he was the third suspect they were searching for. He was taken into custody Thursday at a home in DeKalb County.

Detectives are combing through the scene of a deadly home invasion at an upscale house in Fayette County.

The victim's wife said men stormed their home and demanded valuables. She said they then stabbed her 74-year-old husband to death.

Fayette County deputies were called to the home on Lake Horton Landing around 2:30 a.m. Friday for a report of a man who had been shot.

When deputies arrived, they found the homeowner with stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

His wife told deputies that three men had broken into the house demanding cash and jewelry. Police say there was a struggle. His wife heard noise and walked in to see the three men standing over her husband.

Authorities say the suspects then drove away in the victim's gray Lexus.

Deputies spotted the car later in the morning on Highway 92, where they chased the suspects until they crashed.

The suspects all escaped so deputies set up a perimeter around the area.

Around 4:30 a.m. the sheriff said a Lyft driver drove up and described who she was going to pick up.

"Just a little bit of investigation led us to believe this may be one of our suspects trying to leave the scene," Sheriff Barry Babb said.

So Babb says they launched a "Trojan horse" operation.

"Myself and three other officers got into my vehicle, went to the area where the suspect said he was going to be picked up by the Lyft driver," Babb said.

Deputies were able to arrest two of the suspects, but say a third is still on the run

"You're never safe anywhere, I guess, if you can't be safe inside your own house," neighbor Laura Bush.

The brutal crime has stunned the lakefront neighborhood.

“Just a wonderful man, kind, giving. A senseless crime. He didn’t deserve that. If someone wants to rob someone they should just rob them and go,” Bush said.

Neighbors told Channel 2's Matt Johnson that they are doing all they can for his wife.

"Just trying to make arrangements, get all his kids in, so trying to help her grieve with it," Bush said.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim. The suspects were identified as Jeffrey Lee Wallace, 22, from Atlanta and Kavion Wyzeenski Tookes, 21, from Decatur.
