FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. — A former McIntosh High School student who had been missing for nearly two months has been found safe.

Jennifer Say said that after she moved to Miami, her daughter, Alexis Say, 23, got in with a bad crowd and started experimenting with heroin. Shortly after checking herself into a rehab center in the area, she had a seizure in January.

Jennifer said her daughter was taken to North Shore Medical Center, where she borrowed another patient’s phone to call her mother to let her know that she was in the hospital. Alexis was discharged on Jan. 23 and was waiting in the hospital lobby to be picked up. That was the last time she was seen -- until now.

Alexis was found just a few days ago and is receiving medical treatment and being observed, but otherwise seems to be in good health, her mother said.

“I am so grateful to all of you for your support and encouragement,” Jennifer said. “Please continue to pray as we move forward.”

Alexis’ well-being is still a top priority, so Jennifer didn’t reveal much about what had happened over the past six weeks, but she said her daughter reached out for help more than once.

Jennifer said that the right person in the right place at the right time learned that Alexis was missing, looked online, saw how incredibly loved she is and made the call.

“I have been fortunate enough to meet this man and spend time with him,” Jennifer said. “His description of the events and his sincere motivation to do good in this world have brought me to tears more than once. Please keep him in your prayers.”

Jennifer wanted to say a special thank you to everyone who helped in the devastating time.

“Thank you to the detectives at Miami-Dade Special Victim's Bureau for your investigation and for responding so quickly to the call and getting Alexis back to me,” Jennifer said. “I also want to thank the many people who stayed vigilant, who called in tips and helped in the search.”
