FBI agents say Channel 2 viewer helped find suspect in series of robberies

ATLANTA — The FBI has arrested one man and charged two others they believe to be connected to several business robberies.

The victim and a Channel 2 Action News viewer helped the FBI break this case.

Atlanta police took DeAndre Webb into custody in September. He is charged with the Aug. 12 robbery of the Navy Federal Credit Union on Briarcliff Road.

FBI agents said a Channel 2 viewer identified Webb from a story aired in September.

Investigators are still looking for Lewis Jones, 34, and Jordan Borders, 28.

Jones is 6 feet tall and weighs 300 pounds. His last known address is Defoors Ferry Road in Atlanta.

Borders is 6 feet, 2 inches tall. His last known address is on Hillandale Road in Lithonia.

Police said the men are suspects in the armed robbery of the Regions Bank that occurred on Sept. 9 at 1650 Cumberland Parkway.

Investigators said the three may also be connected to a variety of other robberies including one at the Soap Hand Car Wash in Northeast Atlanta in August. About a month later, Mae’s Bakery on Lenox Road was also robbed.

Channel 2 Investigative Reporter Mark Winne was the only reporter to talk to the victim of one robbery. The woman said the men assaulted her husband.

“Before I knew it, they had him almost wrestled to the ground,” said Maggie, whose last name she asked to keep anonymous.

Maggie said she hopes someone will come forward to help the FBI find the suspects that have not been found.

“If I hear something creak in the house now, I think it’s the people who have my original house key,” said Maggie.

FBI agent Steve Emmett said the trio allegedly robbed Maggie and her husband and used Maggie’s bank card in a Kroger store.

Emmett said the FBI is again turning to Channel 2 viewers, hoping to find the two other suspects.
