COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A raging fire severely damaged a beloved meat company in Cobb County.
Fire crews were called to the Patak Meat Production company on Ewing Road in Austell around 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Cobb County Fire said the heavy flames were coming from the center of the building. After “aggressively” fighting the fire, crews were able to save the front side of the building where the smokers and dry goods are stored.

Crews continued to put out hot spots Tuesday morning.
Cobb County Fire said the company was a “staple” in the community and that many people were devastated.
“The fire department family is looking forward to their reopening as soon as possible,” the fire department said in a statement to Channel 2 Action News.
Patak has been serving the area since 1981.
“Founded in 1981, Patak Meat Products has been a manufacturer of fine European meats and sausages offering wholesale as well as providing a retail deli where the public can purchase meat on a daily basis,” the company said on its website.

The company posted on its Facebook page that it will be closed temporarily.
“It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the temporary closure of our retail, wholesale and online operations,” the company said.
Hundreds of people commented on the Facebook post, offering their best wishes for the company.
“So sorry for the loss. Your new facility was so very nice. Best wishes for a quick cleanup and rebuild,” one person wrote.
