SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — Video from News Drone 2 seemingly confirms neighbors’ fears in the city of South Fulton: a fire at a toxic landfill is burning once again.

“Every time it rains, you will see smoke coming out. Sometimes it will actually flame up,” neighbor Angie Goddard said.

Goddard lives just a few yards away from the landfill on Bishop Road.

“This smell will literally make you sick. Emotionally, it breaks you down,” Goddard said.

Channel 2 Action News first reported on the fire at the unlicensed landfill in the fall of 2018.

Since then, the owner of the landfill, Tandy Ross Bullock, has faced multiple arrest citations and fines, but Goddard said none of it has worked.

“It’s like we’re fighting a battle where nobody’s listening and nobody cares. This fire continues to burn,” she said.

At the landfill, Bullock makes it clear he doesn’t like guests, but Channel 2’s Justin Wilfon tried to contact him by phone with no success.

Neighbors worry about what’s in the air at the landfill. A study by the Environmental Protection Agency found concerning levels of six chemicals at the site.

In a statement, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division said, “The EPD is investigating the allegations regarding a fire.”

Neighbors said it’s time for Bullock to end their misery.

“Thank you for ruining our lives and thank you for putting us through this all this time. You know what we’ve been going through and you don’t care,” Goddard said.

The state attorney general’s office said it is now taking the case back to the courts to try to force Bullock to clean up the landfill, something he was supposed to have completed months ago.
