ATLANTA — An Atlanta firefighter and his wife are both facing criminal charges after an officer-involved shooting Sunday.
Atlanta firefighter Matt Ross, 34, is facing charges for aggravated assault and reckless conduct. His wife Holly Imlach, 40, is facing charges for reckless conduct. Both are in the DeKalb County Jail.
Imlach is a local doctor with a practice in Conyers.
Three days ago, they were accused of walking down their DeKalb County street in a drunken rage.
Neighbors who did not want to be identified said Ross and Imlach made threatening remarks Sunday night. One neighbor who asked us not to use his name told Channel 2's Liz Artz several neighbors witnessed the outburst.
“He was just violent, drunk and apparently had a piece out and just walked right down the road him and his wife," said the neighbor.
The neighbor said Imlach also had a gun.
Residents on Clifford Avenue said the couple was apparently upset at neighbors several homes down and confronted them while yelling obscenities as they marched down the road pointing pistols.
Atlanta police officer Kyle Henderson responded to multiple 911 calls of an armed person on Clifford Avenue. After he confronted Ross, he shot Ross in the shoulder. Ross was released from the hospital several hours later.
“I don't think it's the cop’s fault. I would do the same thing no matter firefighter or businessman," said the neighbor.
Henderson, who has been on the force since 2012, is on paid administrative leave which is standard procedure. Neighbors said the couple moved in a year ago, and it had always been a peaceful neighborhood until Sunday night.
“They disturbed the nature of the street. I’ve been on this street three to four years. We've never had a problem,” said the neighbor.
Ross is also on paid administrative leave. He joined Atlanta Fire Department in 2011. A fire spokeswoman said his status could change next week.
