Fisherman rescued, another missing after boat capsized off Georgia-South Carolina coast

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. — One man has been rescued but another man remains missing one day after their shrimp boat capsized near the Georgia-South Carolina coast.

The Coast Guard has been searching for the two men since they received a missing person report from family members Tuesday afternoon.

A good Samaritan found the boat capsized near St. Helena Sound, South Carolina, according to Coast Guard.

Shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday, rescuers found one of the men about eight miles north of Tybee Island, Georgia. He was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in Savannah, according to WJCL.

Local authorities from Georgia and South Carolina are assisting with the search and rescue efforts for man still missing. Their names have not been released.
