CATOOSA COUNTY, Ga. — Georgia State Patrol said a driver has died after a chase with troopers.
Troopers said they were requested to join a pursuit with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning on Interstate 75.

A trooper joined the chase in Catoosa County and performed a PIT maneuver to end the chase.
When he did, the driver’s silver BMW left the road, hit a guardrail and overturned.
The driver, later identified as 24-year-old Jeffrey Thomas, was thrown from the car and died as a result of injuries he had in the crash.

Officials say the crash is still under investigation.
