COMMERCE, Ga. — A former police officer has found herself behind bars after she was charged with sexual exploitation.

On Dec. 1, the City of Commerce Police Department asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to assist with an investigation.
A family member filed a complaint against Amber Nicole Ferguson, 33, of Commerce.
According to the GBI, Ferguson a former officer with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department was accused of taking sexually explicit pictures of a child.

Ferguson turned herself into the Jackson County Jail on Wednesday morning. She’s charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of children. The investigation is active and ongoing.
