CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — A former College Park police officer has been charged with statutory rape after being accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Villa Rica police said former Officer David Steven Block, 25, had sexual relations with a girl he met online.
According to police, the girl and her friend pretended to be 18 and 20 years old on the site.
Police said they zeroed in on Block after getting a call from the girl's parents.
"April 2 is when we were notified because one of the parents discovered what was going on," Villa Rica police Capt. Keith Shaddix said.

Police said Block met the girl in her neighborhood on March 31 and took her to a nearby hotel.
Shaddix said Block should have known something wasn't right when the girl told him he couldn't pick her up at home.
"To me that's an indication that there's a problem here, despite the fact that they do look young," he said.
Police said the girl and her friend were both engaging in sex with men they met online.
Block quit his job on April 4, when an arrest warrant was issued. He turned himself in on April 14.
The former officer had been on the force for about a year.
